East Of England - Cambridge

Day 1 Morning departure for the journey up to the East of England and to Cambridge for a four night stay.

Day 2 This morning you will travel to Wimpole Estate arriving at 10.30 hours to explore the gardens and enjoy a coffee before the hall opens at 12.00 hours for you to enjoy the rich history and how the many different owners all put their mark on the architecture and interior design of the building. Wimpole has great many impressive and interesting rooms from the entrance hall to the humble servant’s quarters.
NB: The first floor is not usually open to the public

Day 3 Today you will head to Newmarket, the home of horse racing. The town boasts impressive features like the grand Clock Tower in the High Street, King Edward VII Memorial Gardens and Cleveland House. It is market day so plenty to do and see. After lunch you will visit the 500 acre National Stud. Learn about the wonderful history on a 90 minute guided tour by coach and on foot. Meet the visiting mares and their foals and find out what goes on behind the scenes in making potential future champions of the turf.

Day 4 Today your driver will drop anyone wishing to visit Cambridge into the city centre first before travelling to Ely, nestling in the Fen countryside and in the shadow of its magnificent cathedral with a wealth of attractions and things to do. Spend the morning here before continuing to the Hanseatic town of King’s Lynn, one of England’s most important ports from as early as the 12th century and this maritime past is still very much in evidence today. Fine old merchants’ houses stretch down to the river between cobbled lanes and the elegant Custom House overlooks the harbour. Your driver will return to Cambridge after visiting Kings Lynn.

Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
