Day 1 Morning departure that will take you via Salisbury to Warminster, where you can take a lunch stop. Continuing by way of Melksham to Tetbury, a favourite of Prince Charles, and home to the Highgrove shop and numerous antique and gift shops. Travel on to the outskirts of Swindon to the hotel for a two night stay.
Day 2 A scenic Cotswolds tour travelling through some charming towns and villages of Chipping Norton, Moreton-in-Marsh, Broadway and on to Toddington. Here you will board a train and travel through more glorious Cotswold scenery to Cheltenham. Rejoining the coach then travel on to Bourton-on-the Water, known as ‘the Venice of the Cotswolds’ for a stop before returning past Cirencester to the hotel.
Day 3 After breakfast, travel to Highclere Castle for the highlight of the weekend. A magnificent setting for the TV series ‘Downton Abbey’, with its beautiful gardens and grounds. Also included is admission to the Egyptology exhibition. Highclere was the seat of 5th Earl of Caernarvon who, with his colleague Howard Carter, famously discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun and some of their findings are displayed here. Depart from Highclere at approx 15.00 hours to continue your homeward journey.Back to top
