The region of County Durham simply offers too much to fit into a few days, but we have included a boat trip, a visit to a castle, time to stroll round the compact city of Durham and a visit to the National Museum of the Royal Navy.

Itinerary
Day 1 Morning departure for the journey north and to Durham for a four night stay.Day 2 Spend the day in this compact city and leisurely take in all the sights. You have so many attractions to enjoy. We have also included a one hour boat trip for you to see the city from the River Wear.
Day 3 A morning visit to the National Museum of the Royal Navy in Hartlepool. Travel back in time and take to the 18th century seaport and its beautiful waterside setting. See how tradesmen earned a wage, how people spent their leisure time and climb aboard HMS Trincomalee, the last remaining Royal Navy ship to be built in India.
Day 4 Travel to Raby Castle, one of England’s finest medieval castles. A very impressive fortress standing proud, with a history of almost a thousand years. The Victorian and Regency interiors are as opulent as the exterior is imposing, showcasing porcelain and sculpture ranging from Victorian copper cooking utensils to The Raby Tapestry. We have also included a visit to the High Force Waterfall, still on the Raby Estate and approx. a 30 minute drive. It is one of the most impressive waterfalls in England. The River Tees has been plunging into the gorge for thousands of years. Take the circular walking route to the viewing platform down to the water’s edge. A cream tea is also included today.
Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
