Itinerary
Day 1 Morning departure for the journey north to Manchester. Arriving at the hotel for a three night stay. Dinner is included this evening.
Day 2 This morning, travel to Quarry Bank Mill to set the scene for the Cottonopolis story. It is one of Britain’s greatest industrial heritage sites, with a working mill and the Apprentice House and shows how a complete industrial community lived. This afternoon, make your way to Ena Mill, located in a beautiful Grade II listed cotton spinning mill for a little retail therapy before returning to the hotel.
Day 3 Head to the centre of Manchester for a two-hour guided walking tour that reveals more about Cottonopolis, the name inspired by Manchester’s status as the international centre of cotton and the textile industry in the 19th century and the Royal Exchange, the building that was at the very heart of the cotton story. Free time this afternoon to explore the city, why not visit the award-winning Museum of Science and Industry that tells the fascinating story of the city’s technological and industrial achievements (free to enter).
Day 4 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
