Eastgate Clock ChesterDay 1 Morning departure for the journey to Chester and the hotel for a four night stay.

Day 2 Arrive in Chester’s city centre and meet your local guide for a tour by coach. After the tour the rest of the day is free for you to explore this medieval city.

Day 3 This morning you will travel to Northwich and to the Anderton Boat Lift, where you will board a boat and enjoy a brilliant commentary of the history of the river and the Anderton Lift. The lift has earned its nickname of Cathedral of the Canals and was designed to lift boats and barges 50 feet from the River Weaver Navigation to the Trent and Mersey Canal. After the boat ride you can visit the coffee shop or the visitor centre. In the afternoon you will visit the Lion Salt Works, a museum housed within a restored historic open-pan salt making site. Go on a journey of discovery through a series of original buildings housing fascinating exhibits that bring to life a salt worker’s day.

Day 4 Today will start with a visit to Ness Gardens. Explore the gardens spread across 64 acres with stunning views of the River Dee and North Wales. You will see a diverse variety of plants and planting areas which are constantly changing including vibrant year-round colour and outstanding collections of rhododendrons, camellias and sorbus. In the afternoon you will visit the National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port, full of history and heritage, containing 15,000 objects and 50+ boats.

Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
