ItineraryItineraryDay 1 Early morning departure for Dover and the crossing to Calais. You will then travel through France to Forbach or similar for an overnight stop.
Day 2 Continuing the journey on into Austria and the medieval city of Feldkirch for a four night stay. You will be greeted with a welcome drink, typical for the season, and be given some information about the hotel and the surrounding area.
Day 3 Today head to Hohenems, where the palace of Count Waldburg-Zeil is located. Right next door is the Schlosskaffee belonging to the Fenkart family. Here, chocolate is still produced traditionally. You will have a tour and hear about the ingredients and the process, and of course there is also a chance to taste some chocolate. Afterwards, return to the medieval city of Feldkirch, where there will be time to explore the town at your own pace. The gothic St. Nikolaus Dome, the small and hidden alleyways, the Wild park and its alpine animals – there is a lot to see.
Day 4 This morning you will travel to the northern side of Lake Constance, to the German shores of the Lake. First, drive to Hagnau, with a visit to the Vintner’s Association including a tasting of their products. The reflected sunlight from Lake Constance makes it possible to produce such exquisite wines. We strongly recommend the Vin Gris (called Weißherbst in German)– a very special rosé. Afterwards, passing Meersburg, which has the oldest castle in Germany, to Birnau Abbey. This baroque treasure is known far beyond the borders for its extraordinary architecture. You will be pleasantly surprised. On the return journey to the hotel, a stop will be made in Lindau, the city on the island. While strolling along the harbour take in the spectacular view of the peaks of the Swiss Alps.
Day 5 Today’s tour is to the most traditional cantons in Switzerland. Here, they spell tradition with a capital T. After a walk through the quaint city of Appenzell, with its beautiful painted halftimbered houses, a visit will be made to the Locher Brewery. Special beer is brewed here, which of course there will be a tasting, and there is also single-malt whisky to try, a rare opportunity outside of Scotland and Ireland. Continue onto a visit at the Henri Dunant Museum, he was the founder of the Red Cross, and his thoughts and experiences are recorded here. Return journey through Altstätten in the Rhine Valley and onto Feldkirch.
Day 6 Unfortunately it is time to say goodbye and travel back into France and to Forbach or similar for an overnight stop.
Day 7 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.rney. Back to top
