Itinerary

ItineraryDay 1 Morning departure for the journey to Maidstone in Kent and the hotel for a four night stay.

Day 2 Today you will depart for Canterbury which boasts some of England’s finest medieval architecture, including one of its oldest cathedrals. You will then visit Brogdale Collections, the largest collection of fruit in the world. We have included a tractor trailer ride for you with a guide who will give you a running commentary on your journey around the National Fruit Collection. Each collection offers unique varieties with interesting facts, stories and history to discover. After the hour long tour we have also included a cream tea.

Day 3 A visit to Scotney Castle Garden, one of the most romantic gardens in England, the ruins of a small castle and the moat form the backdrop to a beautiful garden. You will then travel to Tenterden, known as the ‘Jewel of the Weald’ which offers fascinating history, a wealth of architecture and excellent shopping where you will find that special gift, local craft, antiques or wander down to the station and watch the trains at the Kent and East Sussex Railway.

Day 4 A morning visit to the Riverhill Himalayan Gardens, an intriguing mix of historic and traditional planting. Discover the Jungle, the Rose Walk, the Walled Garden, the Orchard Sweep and visit the viewpoint with a stunning outlook. A fascinating ‘must-see’ visit. The afternoon will be spent at Down House, where the great scientist Charles Darwin lived for 40 years and where he developed his theory of evolution and wrote his ground-breaking work ‘On the origin of species’ by means of natural selection in 1859.

Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey. ** Please note April tour is a 4 day tour so this itinerary has been condesed into 3 days.
