One of the oldest settlements in Wales, Carmarthen is brimming with historic architecture, such as Clough Williams-Elliss bridge over the Towy, and boasts a bustling market and shopping streets. Reputed to be the birthplace of King Arthur and Merlin, Carmarthen was the largest town in Wales during the coal boom of the 17th century. Today Carmarthen is home to a thriving university, yet retains its roots as a farming community famed for its high quality sheep and cattle.

EXCURSIONS INCLUDED
Full Day Excursion to Aberaeron & Cardigan
Heading North into Cardiganshire or Ceredigion as it is known in Wales, we visit the quaint Regency style resort of Aberaeron as well as the former port town of Cardigan with its historic quayside and castle. The area is renowned for its honey and for being the inspiration for Dylan Thomas' "Under Milk Wood".

Full Day Excursion to Pembroke & Tenby
Our tour visits Pembroke, birthplace of Henry VII and site of a prolonged siege by Oliver Cromwell from which the town retains a magnificent castle. In Tenby we find two superb beaches and a photogenic harbour overlooked by pastel coloured Georgian and Regency buildings. The narrow streets and fortified walls combine to create a unique seaside atmosphere.

Extended Half Day Excursion to Gwili Railway
Known as "the friendly line", this steam and diesel railway operates on part of the former Carmarthen to Aberystwyth line (rail fare included). The journey takes in some delightful natural scenery and industrial heritage. There is a miniature railway display and a former travelling post office to explore.
