Located between Swansea and Cardiff, Porthcawl was originally a port for the iron and steel industries and still has some interesting features from that period, including the oldest maritime warehouse in Wales, an attractive harbour and the last coal and gas powered lighthouse in the country. The attractive seaside resort offers numerous facilities, including the world famous Porthcawl golf course, the finest course in Wales and one of several in the area, an expansive sandy beach and Coney Beach, a fairground with a variety of rides and amusements which was named after the famous New York venue.

Tuesday (Alias Christmas Eve) Full Day Excursion to Cardiff
This morning we travel to the Welsh capital, Cardiff, which provides everything you would expect from a cosmopolitan city and manages to successfully blend old and new together. With so many influences over the years, the city is home to a wide range of attractions, and it has been transformed into the UK's fastest growing visitor destination. Irrespective of your interests and hobbies, everyone can find something that takes their fancy in this city. We return to our hotel in time for dinner after which the evening is filled with dancing and entertainment.

Wednesday (Alias Christmas Day)
Morning competition to guess the weight of the Christmas Cake. Traditional Christmas lunch with 'Santa' and presents. Afternoon tea and games. Dinner followed by dancing and entertainment.

Thursday (Alias Boxing Day) Half Day Excursion to Swansea
Today we travel to the bustling city of Swansea, situated at the entrance to the Gower. The city's history can be explored in the Swansea Museum, while the National Waterfront Museum focuses on the current and previous 300 years of Welsh industry and innovation. Both museums are free to enter and are adjacent to our drop-off point. The life and works of Dylan Thomas are celebrated in Swansea in the form of a beautiful building dedicated to him in the Maritime Quarter. Swansea also boasts an award-winning indoor market and a variety of shops from national and international chains to independent boutiques Back at the hotel enjoy a pre-lunch glass of punch followed by Grand Boxing Day Lunch. Free afternoon followed by dinner and fancy dress farewell dance (please bring a costume).

Porthcawl's most prominent building is situated on a headland, a short walk from the Grand Pavilion and John Street shops.
