Salcombe is a pretty port town that was once a major port for the fruit trade./nLooking from Salcombe over the water is the village of East Portlemouth, accessible by ferry./nIt is believed that Lord Tennyson's famous poem "Crossing the Bar" was inspired by a visit to Salcombe during the 19th century./nThis unique and charming market town sits in the heart of South Devon and has an international reputation for its lively and diverse community./nThe first authenticated history of Totnes was when King Edward the Elder fortified it in AD 907, although according to legend Totnes was the landing place of Brutus of Troy./nTotnes offers an exceptional range of small independent retailers, plenty of museums and many galleries. A visit to Totnes is not complete without a visit to the Brutus Stone./n
Day 3 - Teignmouth & Exeter
Fans of classic Georgian architecture will love Den Crescent and the Assembly Rooms, reminiscent of Bath./nAt the resort end of town, the magnificent Victorian pier hosts many traditional seaside attractions./nAs well as the sea beach with its pier, Teignmouth has a river beach leading to the harbour and close-knit old town./nFamous for its cathedral, with long vaulted ceilings, astronomical clock and minstrel's gallery./nHistory and art lovers will also enjoy the Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Gallery (free admission)./nTake a rest at the Ship Inn, which Drake used to frequent./n

A living monastic community situated on the southern edge of Dartmoor./nThe Abbey (free entry) is famous for its tonic wine, made from French mistelle and Devonian herbs./nThe whole site was rebuilt by French Benedictines, exiled fom France during the Third Republic./n
Day 7 - Return Travel
