Northumbria is a revelation! Gorgeous coastline with a mixture of rocky headlands and delightful coves interspersed with fishing villages and medieval castles, gives way to rolling countryside with lively streams and lovely villages. Our tour is based in Newcastle, a fascinating city spectacularly situated on the Tyne. Our excursions include a visit to the historic city of Durham and the fascinating Beamish museum, as well as a chance to see some of the intriguing castles located along this stunning stretch of coastline.

Full Day Excursion to Warkworth and the Northumbrian Coast
Today we see some of Northumbria's delightful coastal villages. Warkworth Castle, birthplace of Harry Hotspur, is a magnificent sight enclosed within the meandering river Coquet. More castles follow at Dunstanburgh and romantically situated Bamburgh, signs of the turbulent past of this border region.
Full Day Excursion to Beamish
The North of England Open Air Museum is set in lovely countryside and vividly recreates life in the North East at the start of the Industrial Revolution (entrance included in the tour cost).
Full Day Excursion to Durham
A short journey brings us to Durham with its superb Norman cathedral. The adjacent castle is a reminder that church and state were never closer than in the time of the warlike Prince Bishops who were based here.
Located on the Newcastle-Gateshead Quayside on the banks of the Tyne, our hotel is a short walk to popular theatres, art galleries and attractions, including the BALTIC Centre of Contemporary Art, The Sage Gateshead, Gateshead Millennium Bridge and the Metro Radio Arena.
