Newquay is Cornwall's premier holiday resort boasting some of the finest coastline and beaches in Europe. Although well known as Britain's surfing capital, there are many other activities and the surrounding countryside has an endless wealth of fascinating places to visit. The town is an ancient one, dating from the fifteenth century when a new quay was constructed. The heart of the town is the old harbour but it spreads along the cliff tops which stand behind the eleven magnificent sandy beaches. Newquay offers wonderful cliff and beach walks, a picturesque harbour to explore and the variety of activities one associates with such a major resort, including swimming pools, golf, putting, squash, tennis, bowls, boating, shark fishing and horse riding. There are also the atmospheric smugglers' pubs which are a living reminder of the more colourful side of Cornwall's history!

Day 1 - Outward Travel


Day 2 - Eden Project
Home to a vast global garden, The Eden Project (entry included in tour cost) nestles in a crater overlooking St. Austell Bay./nRainforest and Mediterranean gardens are grown in carefully controlled environments called biomes. /nOutside, local plants, lavender fields and a small tea plantation are among the many styles of cultivation to discover./n

Day 3 - Day at Leisure
Today is left free to allow for relaxing in the hotel or exploring the local area. /nDon't hesitate to enquire with the hotel reception regarding local attractions and travel options.

Day 4 - Padstow & Bodmin
Charming Padstow on the Camel Estuary is noted as a dinghy sailing centre. /nCornwall’s capital of seafood cuisine was made famous by the celebrity chef Rick Stein who owns several businesses here./nTo get a different view of the town, a passenger ferry runs across the Camel estuary to the small village of Rock (charge applies)./nHistoric Bodmin, formerly Cornwall’s county town, features museums of military and penal history (entry fees apply)./nThe Anglican church, dedicated to St Pertoc, is the largest parish church Cornwall (seasonal daily opening)./nMany quirky independent shops and cafés line the quaint narrow streets. /n

Eliot Hotel
The Eliot Hotel is very well situated close to Great Western and Tolcarne beaches, only a few yards from the sea front and within easy walking distance of the shops and harbour. The Eliot Hotel is a popular choice for holiday makers seeking invigorating coach holidays to Newquay. With 76 bedrooms, each with central heating and a bath or shower and WC. All rooms have tea/coffee making facilities, hair dryer and television with radio channels. There are three lovely airy lounges in which to relax, plus a bar lounge with dance floor where entertainment is provided most evenings and a games room. The lift serves most rooms although all floors are split level with some intermediate stairs.
