The Georgian coastal town of Whitehaven was the first planned town of the industrial era, built around the port which is now a marina for pleasure boats. The planned streets were used as a model for New York and other American cities. Attractions include the Beacon exhibition, The Rum Story museum, and the church of St Nicholas, where George Washington’s grandmother is buried.

Day 1 - Outward Travel
Day 2 - Full Day Windermere Cruise & Bowness-on-Windermere
Enjoy the magnificent splendour of Lake Windermere as we cruise from Lakeside at the southern tip of the lake to Bowness-on-Windermere. Enjoy free time in this popular village to explore the quaint shops, charming cafes or simply take in the spectacular views from the shores of the lake./n
Day 3 - Half Day Kendal
Visit the market town of Kendal, a popular town on the edge of the Lake District which is well known for it's famous mint cake!/n
Day 4 - Full Day Coniston & Ambleside
Lying in the shadow of the Old Man of Coniston, the village of Coniston is a delight to explore. Arthur Ransome, the author of Swallows & Amazons resided here and you can still track down the places described in his children's books. We also visit the bustling town of Ambleside situated at the head of Lake Windermere./n
Day 5 - Return Travel
