Day 1 - Outward Travel
Day 2 - Half day to Whitstable
Famous since Roman times for its oysters, Whitstable features miles of shingle beach./nA maze of historic alleyways meanders between delightful shops and pubs./nWhitstable also boasts the largest registered village green in England on the outskirts of the town./n
Day 3 - Scotney Castle
We journey to the High Weald, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, to visit the delightful house and gardens of Scotney Castle (entry included in tour cost). /nThe ruined ‘Old Castle’ stands on a moated island surrounded by sloping wooded gardens with many beautiful flowering shrubs. /nThe ‘New Castle’ was built in the 1800s in Tudor style with more formal lawns and planting. We also visit historic Maidstone on the return journey./n
Day 4 - Margate, Ramsgate & Hornby Visitor Centre
On the North Kent coast we find the regenerated resort town of Margate, popular with young fashionable Londoners. /nMargate is home to the new Turner Gallery, many unique and interesting shops, and the re-opened Dreamland fairground. /nRamsgate has undergone significant redevelopment, especially along its picturesque waterfront. /nMuseums can be found dedicated to subjects as diverse as Maritime history, Microcomputers, and Pugin architecture (entry fees may apply)./nThe town is also home to the largest Wetherspoons pub in the world, in a refurbished casino building on the seafront. /nThe centre features rare products from the Hornby, Scalextric, Airfix and Corgi archives (entry included in tour cost)./nTrack the history of Hornby from Frank Hornby’s early home-made toys to the development of Hornby ‘O’ gauge and Hornby-Dublo./nDon't miss the spectacular Model Railway and Scalextric layouts./n
Day 5 - Return Travel
