Day 1 - Outward Travel
Day 2 - Bideford & RHS Rosemoor
Once Britain’s third largest port, Bideford today is home to a thriving shopping centre with an historic Pannier Market holding both produce and craft markets twice a week. Discover the many antique shops that are scattered amongst the narrow backstreets or explore the tree-lined quay which still bustles with activity. We continue to visit RHS Rosemoor. This enchanting garden curated by the Royal Horticultural Society offers a different experience every season: spectacular cherry trees in blossom for spring, the iconic Hot Garden ablaze with colour in summer and the fiery colours of autumn throughout the woodland walks. /n
Day 3 - Flying Scotsman - West Somerset Railway
The highlight of our trip! We journey to the Bishops Lydeard to join the West Somerset Railway aboard the iconic Flying Scotsman! This iconic engine appeals to all and is one of the jewels in the crown of British Transport and engineering - join us for an unforgettable day out!/n
Day 4 - Day at Leisure
Day 5 - Exmoor - Minehead & Lynmouth
Enjoy the spectacular moorlands and dramatic coastline of Exmoor National Park. We visit Minehead – a traditional seaside resort with an historic fishing quarter and harbour, 14th century church and wonderful seaside attractions. We continue to the picturesque village of Lynmouth where rows of charming fishing cottages and shops cluster around the pretty harbour. Why not enjoy spectacular views of the coast with a trip on the funicular railway?/n
Day 6 - Barnstaple & Woolacombe
The largest town in North Devon, Barnstaple offers something for everyone. The Pannier Market plays host to a range of events with regular markets, the independent shops of Butcher’s Row as well as multiple heritage trails taking in the town’s impressive architecture including the 17th Century alms houses, the Old Bridge and pretty churches. /nWe also visit the seaside town of Woolacombe who’s expansive beach has been voted one of the top 20 beaches in the world! Woolacombe itself is a lively village with great pubs and restaurants, and plenty to do away from the beach. A stroll along the dramatic coast path provides the perfect outlook for bird watching and seal spotting./n
