Situated on a sandy isthmus between the Great Orme and Little Orme Heads, Llandudno boasts two superb beaches. The shingly North Shore is the busier of the two with its Victorian Pier, boat trips, donkey rides, Punch and Judy shows and much more. The sandy West Shore is quieter with miles of sands and panoramic views of the Snowdonia mountain range in the distance. Llandudno is a highly attractive resort with its magnificent crescent of hotels, broad tree-lined streets and elegant shops all combining to produce a unique atmosphere. There are two golf courses. A tramway and cable car both offer a route to the summit of the Great Orme (which also boasts a superb dry ski slope - one of the best in Britain). There is plenty to do both by day and by night and you are sure never to have a dull moment at what many would claim to be the most complete of all British holiday resorts.

Day 1 - Outward Travel
Day 2 - Full Day - Llangollen & Bala Lake Railway
The ancient town of Llangollen, situated on the River Dee, is home to the International Eisteddfod, the Welsh festival of literature, music and performance./nLlangollen Museum allows both visitors and locals easy access to information and displays about the area's heritage./nBala Lake Railway offers a delightful 9 mile return journey alongside Bala Lake, through the beautiful Snowdonia National Park (fare included)./nThe journey offers extensive views of Llyn Tegid, its surrounding countryside as well as the Arenig Fawr, Aran Benllyn and Aran Fawddwy mountains./nLlanuwchllyn is the railway’s main station and from here visitors can watch the steam locomotives being serviced and see the Victorian signal box in operation. /n
Day 3 - Full Day - Llanberis Lake Railway & Welsh Slate Museum
The Railway allows us to discover the timeless appeal of the narrow-gauge steam trains and enjoy a leisurely way of savouring the grandeur of Snowdonia./nThe steam engines take us on a five-mile return journey alongside Lake Padarn, past the 13th century Dolbadarn Castle and Llanberis' twin lakes (Fare included). /nThe train runs non-stop through the Padarn Country Park, joining the 1845 slate railway route and giving stunning views of Snowdon, the highest peak in Wales./nSited in the former workshops of the Dinorwic Slate Quarry (closed 1969), the museum (free entry) explores the history of mining in Snowdonia./nThere are 3 elements to our visit - an audio-visual presentation, a slate-splitting demonstration, and a look around the restored workers' cottages./nThe museum also has the largest working waterwheel in mainland Britain, and a hydraulic balance incline, used for lifting heavy materials./n
Day 4 - Full Day - Ffestiniog Railway & Conwy
The world's oldest narrow gauge railway with almost 200 years of history, the Ffestiniog Railway offers a 13½-mile journey (fare included)./nThe Ffestiniog Railway, which terminates in Porthmadog, once transported slate to the harbour from quarries in Blaenau Ffestiniog./nThree of the original locomotives are over 150 years old, offering an unrivalled journey back into the golden age of rail travel./nThe mighty walls of Conwy contain a mussel museum, the Royal Cambrian Academy of Art and the half-timbered Aberconwy House (entry fees apply)./nTelford's suspension bridge with its castellations was designed to mirror the battlements of the castle./nThere's often a lot of activity to watch on the quayside, where you will also find Britain's smallest house!/n
Day 5 - Return Travel
Hydro Hotel
Ideally placed on the sea front close to the Aberconwy Centre and a short walk from Llandudno’s wonderful shops, Pier and Happy Valley gardens, the Hydro Hotel is a favourite destination for coach holidays to Llandudno. Large entertainment suite with dance floor and entertainment most evenings. Superb "Looking Glass” bar with views over the bay, sun lounge and games room with snooker. 126 bedrooms with central heating and private bath or shower and WC. All rooms have tea/coffee making facilities, hair dryer and TV with radio channels. Many rooms have views over the bay or over the town to the Snowdonian mountains. Lift serves most floors (split level floors mean some stairs to most rooms). Some ground floor rooms available.
