Join us for a spectacular mix of music, pomp and ceremony that is the Edinburgh Tattoo. One of the world’s most spectacular shows, with almost 1’000 musicians, pipers, drummers and dancers perform in front of the magnificent backdrop of Edinburgh Castle.
We will stay near the picturesque town of Melrose, located next to the River Tweed at foot of the triple peaks of the Eildon Hills; a distinctive landmark of the Scottish Borders. The area around Melrose is thought to have been inhabited for thousands of years with the Romans arriving in AD79 or 80 and building a fort nearby named Trimontium; 'Place of the Three Hills’. The Three Hills Roman Heritage Centre houses the Trimontium Museum which is dedicated to Roman life in Scotland. Melrose Abbey lies to the North East side of the centre of the town. With an abundance of independent shops and cafes, there is ample things to do whilst visiting this pretty little town.

Day 1 - Outward Travel
Day 2 - Half Day Peebles
A charming and beautiful Border Town, Peebles is set on the banks of the River Tweed and home to spectacular scenery, wonderful shops and delightful cafes./n
Day 3 - Edinburgh & Royal Military Tattoo
We travel to capital Edinburgh where there will be free time to explore this most historic city. Discover the atmosphere on the Royal Mile or hit the shops on Princes Street. Later in the evening, we take our seats for the Edinburgh Tattoo - celebrating over 50 years of music and spectacle, this spine-tingling show is set beneath the glowering twilight of the majestic castle./nWe will enjoy lunch before we depart for Edinburgh - please note that dinner at the hotel is not included on this day but there will be ample time in the city before the performance to visit one of the many restaurants, cosy pubs or charming cafes before the show./nPlease note that the Edinburgh Tattoo is an evening, outdoor performance. We recommend wearing suitable clothing and footwear in case of inclement weather. Umbrellas are not permitted in the show arena. The route to the castle is steep in places and mainly on cobbled streets. There are steps to the seats in the arena./n

We venture into bonny Border Country today with visits to the welcoming market town of Kelso and Jedburgh, known for its associations with Mary Queen of Scots./n
