Day 2 - Great Dixter House & Gardens and Rye
Discover the beautiful gardens at Great Dixter. Surrounding the historic house, the gardens here were nurtured by renowned gardener Christopher Lloyd. The planting here varies from yew topiary and carpets of meadow flowers to dazzling colourful borders and a wonderful Exotic Garden. The extraordinary house dates back from the mid-15th century and there is a guide on hand in each room to explain the history of the house. Later in the day we’ll call at seaside Rye, a medieval town with a myriad of historic streets, cosy pubs and nooks and crannies to explore./n
Day 3 - Day at Leisure
Day 4 - Michelham Priory & Lewes
800 years of history is waiting to be discovered at Michelham Priory. Founded in 1229, destroyed during Tudor times and a home to evacuees in World War II, there is so much to see and learn here. Fascinating displays of furniture and artefacts reflect the different periods and history and there are seven acres of beautiful grounds to admire, including England’s longest, medieval filled moat! We will also stop at historic Lewes, nestled amongst the South Downs National Park. The old streets, pretty churches and tiny ‘twittens’ or alleys allow visitors a glimpse into a bygone age./n
