Holiday Summary

  • Travel Type: Coach

Newquay is Cornwall's premier holiday resort boasting some of the finest coastline and beaches in Europe. Although well known as Britain's surfing capital, there are many other activities and the surrounding countryside has an endless wealth of fascinating places to visit. The town is an ancient one, dating from the fifteenth century when a new quay was constructed. The heart of the town is the old harbour but it spreads along the cliff tops which stand behind the eleven magnificent sandy beaches. Newquay offers wonderful cliff and beach walks, a picturesque harbour to explore and the variety of activities one associates with such a major resort, including swimming pools, golf, putting, squash, tennis, bowls, boating, shark fishing and horse riding. There are also the atmospheric smugglers' pubs which are a living reminder of the more colourful side of Cornwall's history!

Itinerary
Day 1 - Outward Travel

Day 2 - Falmouth & Flambards
Fascinating maritime heritage, narrow streets and a bustling town centre – Falmouth is Cornwall’s at its finest. Exotic sub-tropical plants thrive in the mild climate and you can admire the formal flower beds and ornamental trees in the Municipal Gardens. Falmouth is also a foodie paradise with freshly caught seafood on every corner plus traditional Cornish pasties to be found in the many bakeries! Later in the day we continue to fascinating Flambards – explore the recreated cobbled streets of the Victorian Village, discover the replica of a London street during World War II and admire over 50,000 genuine historic artefacts in the displays and exhibitions./n

Day 3 - Mousehole & Penzance
Today we take an excursion to magical Mousehole. This picturesque fishing village on the south coast of Cornwall is rich in history – in 1595 the entire village was burnt to the ground leaving only one house which still stands today! The village retains much of its olde-worlde charm and the narrow streets are bustle with small shops, galleries and cafes. Overlooking Mounts Bay, the winding streets, beautiful architecture and stunning coastal views make Penzance one of Cornwall’s most popular destinations. There’s plenty to see and do here why not takie a stroll along the pretty promenade and admire the view of St Michael’s Mount which sits off the coast in the distance. /n

Day 4 - Day at Leisure

Day 5 - Day at Leisure

Day 6 - Port Isaac & Tintagel
A day of pretty villages lies ahead as we make our way along the coast to call at Tintagel and Port Isaac. Magical Tintagel is home to tales of Arthurian legends and stunning coastal views and the pretty village of Port Isaac is instantly recognisable as the filming location of TV’s Doc Martin – see Doc’s house and surgery, Louisa’s School and Mrs Tishell’s pharmacy!/nPlease note: The village of Port Isaac is inaccessible by our tour coaches. The coach park is at the top of the village and the route to the harbour is very steep in parts. Shuttle services to/from the village are available and charges are payable locally for this service. /n
