Newquay is Cornwall's premier holiday resort boasting some of the finest coastline and beaches in Europe. Although well known as Britain's surfing capital, there are many other activities and the surrounding countryside has an endless wealth of fascinating places to visit. The town is an ancient one, dating from the fifteenth century when a new quay was constructed. The heart of the town is the old harbour but it spreads along the cliff tops which stand behind the eleven magnificent sandy beaches. Newquay offers wonderful cliff and beach walks, a picturesque harbour to explore and the variety of activities one associates with such a major resort, including swimming pools, golf, putting, squash, tennis, bowls, boating, shark fishing and horse riding. There are also the atmospheric smugglers' pubs which are a living reminder of the more colourful side of Cornwall's history!

Home to a vast global garden, The Eden Project (entry included in tour cost) nestles in a crater overlooking St. Austell Bay./nRainforest and Mediterranean gardens are grown in carefully controlled environments called biomes. /nOutside, local plants, lavender fields and a small tea plantation are among the many styles of cultivation to discover./n
Day 3 - Full Day - Looe & Polperro
Straddling the Looe River, this archetypal Cornish harbour town changes dramatically as the tides wax and wane./nThe old Guildhall is the oldest building in the town, circa 1500, and houses the local museum (entry fees may apply)./nJutting out to sea is the banjo pier, so called for its shape, which was unique at the time of its construction./nThe busy little harbour of Polperro was once a hive of smuggling, well organised to the point of having its own bank!/nLocal artefacts and the works of local artists are displayed at the Harbour Heritage Museum (entry fee may apply)./nThere are still a dozen or so fishing boats landing cod, monkfish, scallops, crabs and flat fish at Polperro./n

Famous as an artist's paradise with its picturesque harbour and beach, St Ives' streets are to narrow and winding for coach access./nWe park on the edge of town from where a regular shuttle operates to the centre with its craft shops, galleries and cafés./nAttractions include the Tate Gallery and Barbara Hepworth Museum (entry fees apply) and the Lifeboat station (seasonal opening)./n

Eliot Hotel
The Eliot Hotel is very well situated close to Great Western and Tolcarne beaches, only a few yards from the sea front and within easy walking distance of the shops and harbour. The Eliot Hotel is a popular choice for holiday makers seeking invigorating coach holidays to Newquay. With 78 bedrooms, each with central heating and a bath or shower and WC. All rooms have tea/coffee making facilities, hair dryer and television with radio channels.
