There is no better way to end a day exploring the Lake District than to enjoy the views of the Lake District hills across Morecambe Bay as the sun sets over the Bay – one of England’s most memorable sights. The Lake District is England’s largest National Park and has inspired more poetry than any other area of English landscape. Both Wordsworth and Coleridge lived and worked here for a time and every corner provides a new and enticing vista. The scenery is often seen at its best from the water and in this fascinating holiday we have trips on the two largest lakes, Windermere and Ullswater to complement the views across Morecambe Bay.

Itinerary
Day 1 - Outward Travel
Day 2 - Windermere Cruise & Coniston
Excursion to the beautiful Lake District where we take to the waters of magnificent Lake Windermere on a cruise to Bowness. We also call at charming Coniston. /n
Day 3 - Kirkby Lonsdale Half Day
Set in the limestone district and Lune Valley. Kirkby Lonsdale is a typical Dales farming town./nCobbled streets are flanked by a wealth of craft and local produce shops./nNotable features include the 14th century Devil's Bridge and the scenic panorama of Ruskin's View./n
Day 4 - Day at Leisure
Day 5 - Ulverston & Grange over Sands
The market town of Ulverston was the birthplace of Stan Laurel, who is celebrated with a statue and museum (entry fees apply)./nGrange over Sands was a fashionable Victorian resort town and attracts a multitude of birdlife to its fertile shoreline./n
Day 6 - Ullswater & Keswick
From Glenridding the southern part of Ullswater we take a boat trip to Pooley Bridge (included in tour cost) along England's second largest lake. /nThe lake was formed by three glaciers, resulting in its zig-zag shape./nWordworth's poem "Daffodils" was written on a journey along the lake's shores where the flowers bloom each spring./nKeswick is the busiest town in the North Lakes, situated beside scenic Derwent Water./nDiscover the fascinating history of an everyday item at the Pencil Museum (entry fee applies). /nLocal artefacts are displayed at the Keswick Museum & Art Gallery (entry fee applies)./n
Day 7 - Return Travel
The Auckland Hotel
A family owned and run hotel on the Central Promenade offering a warm welcome and personal service, the Auckland is well placed for all the resort’s main amenities. There is a sun lounge and patio, a separate TV lounge and a lounge bar offering lunchtime snacks in a convivial relaxed atmosphere.
