Bognor Regis has been a seaside fishing settlement since Anglo Saxon times. It became a fashionable resort in the reign of George III and has been frequented by royalty on numerous occasions. The resort is flat and has an excellent promenade walk. There is a pier and a delightful park, Hotham Park, which boasts a narrow gauge railway, putting green, crazy golf, tennis court and boating lake. On the beach between Bognor Regis and Aldwick lies the wreck of a floating pontoon - part of the Mulberry Harbour which was destined to be towed across to Normandy on D-Day June 6, 1944 and was washed up on the beach shortly after D-Day. The beach is predominantly pebbly but the water is clean and the quality of the light often remarkable. Inland the scenery is quintessentially English with the splendour of the South Downs, England's newest National Park, very close at hand.

The archetypal Victorian resort town, at one time home to Oscar Wilde, Worthing was a settlement even before the Romans arrived in Britain./nWorthing Museum has an art gallery, sculpture garden, studio gallery, costume collection, toy collection and archeological finds (free entry). /nFamous for its graceful Regency buildings including the exotic iron-domed Royal Pavilion. /nThe electric railway is the oldest electric seafront railway in Britain and offers a delightful way to see some of the resort./nBrighton’s enticing series of narrow streets, The Lanes, have many delightful small shops./n
Day 3 - Day at Leisure
Day 4 - Full Day - Watercress Line & Winchester
Sit back and relax as we travel through the heart of the English countryside on the 19th century heritage railway in Hampshire known as the “Watercress line” /nTravelling 10 miles from the picturesque town of Alresford to the bustling market town of Alton. (Return journey back to Alresford included in the tour cost)/nWinchester is often described as the perfect English city, packed with historic monuments./nWinchester features no fewer than six military museums, as well as the fascinating City Museum, and the Westgate Museum (entry fees may apply)./nMaps and self-guided walking tours are available from the Tourist Information office, with routes in the city centre as well as the Keats Trail./n
Day 5 - Return Travel
Royal Norfolk Hotel
Situated in a delightfully sunny spot on the sea front with extensive lawns and superb Channel views, this exceptional Georgian building dates from the 1830’s and has been visited by the Emperor Napoleon III of France and various descendants of Queen Victoria. The Royal Norfolk hotel in Bognor Regis is just a short walk from the pier and shops. All 67 rooms are centrally heated with private bath or shower and WC, television, trouser press, hair dryer and tea/coffee making facilities. There is an attractive lobby bar with television, a split level restaurant, two conference rooms and a bar lounge with small dance floor.
