Roaming charges are abolished in Europe
As of yesterday Thursday 15th June 2017, UK travellers visiting the EU will no longer have to pay extortionate roaming charges (with a few exceptions of course!).
Within the 28 countries that make up the EU, roaming charges have indeed been scrapped and your phone can be used like you are at home. You can make as many voice calls and send as many texts as you like charged at the domestic rates.
If you exceed any contracted minutes, data and texts you will still be charged in the EU as you would in the UK. Also, it is worth checking before you travel as different mobile phone providers charge different rates and include different countries.
Before travelling we advise that you check with your phone network about what you are entitled to abroad to save any confusion or additional charges.
