London Gatwick installs Jockey Scales to weigh Luggage
If you venture to London Gatwick you may be lucky enough to sport authentic jockey scales for passengers baggage to mark the centenary since the Grand National was held on site. One of the most iconic horse-racing events was moved from Aintree to Gatwick doing the First World War.
To mark the 100 year anniversary, scales have been installed in the South Terminal and passengers will be able to check the weight of their bags.
The Grand National was renamed The War Steeplechase whilst it was hosted at Gatwick between 1916 and 1918. It was run over the same distance as the Aintree course, 4 miles and 856 yards.
The Gatwick Racecourse hosted its final race in 1940.
