Phantom of the Opera celebrates 30 years
Hit West End musical the Phantom of the Opera celebrated its 30th Birthday earlier this week. The production originally opened in London on the 9th October 1986. The show is currently booking until October 2017 and is still enjoying much success with West End theatregoers.
The anniversary was celebrated with a special charity gala on Monday at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London’s West End.
The show has won over 50 major awards including Olivier and Tony Awards. Phantom of the Opera is also the longest running musical on Broadway having run for 28 years. The show has been seen by 140 million people in 35 countries and is currently showing in London, New York, Prague, Budapest, Stockholm and Oberhausen, it is also currently touring the US.
