New Tate Modern to open 17 June 2016
Art lovers will be excited to learn the new Tate Modern will be opening in London on the 17th June 2016. The new building will be able to display a greater variety of artworks from around the globe. It will present an increasingly international view on modern and contemporary art.
The new building consists of ten storeys and has a modern and sleek design compared to the original gallery which opened in 2000 and is styled to look like a power station. The new building is designed by de Meuron and Herzog and will use brick to match the existing façade of the museum.
The Tate Modern attracts a massive 5 million visitors a year and when the new museum opens this number is sure to increase.
