Shearings Add 38 New Coaches to its Fleet
Formidable expansion for touring holidays company Shearings is underway with their most recent transaction involving the acquisition of 38 new coaches totalling £10.5 million. This, along with the 30 new Setra vehicles purchased at the end of last year, brings about a current fleet count of 240 coaches – more than 80% of which have been purchased in the last 4 years. In the last year alone, Shearings's occupancy levels have averaged over 90%- further sub sequential to the £3.6 million that was reinvested during the just gone financial year.
Shearings, whom own 50 hotels under the 'Bay and Coast' and 'Country' brands, have invested an additional £5 million in order to bolster its facilities to reflect their high product standards. Not only does the reinvestment of company profits illustrate Shearings’ continuous rapid expansion, but the projection of future growth corroborates with the already steady bookings for 2014 which are currently more than 10% ahead of that, this time last year.
It is expected that the £275,000-a-piece coaches will facilitate future plans for additions to its premium Grand Tourer programme, which will offer a multitude of new tours to attractions such as Highclere Castle, south-east Italy and various European battlefields by late 2014.
The coaches are set for arrival at the company in the new year.
