Are you a holiday fibber?
One of our featured tour operators, Leger Holidays, recently conducted a survey and found that a number of British holidaymakers believe their holiday choice can reflect who they are as a person.
Leger Holidays surveyed approximately 1000 people and 47% would choose to reject a holiday because of the apparent stigma attached to them. Those holidays that were immediately rejected were 18-30s (22%), coach breaks (13%), cruises (12%), holiday parks (11%) and solo travel (9%).
Out of the people surveyed, at least 12% have rejected a holiday purely because of what others may think of them with 25% lying about where they were going so that their friends, family or work colleagues will not think badly of them.
The head of retail sales at Leger Holidays, Ashley Dellow, said: "The results from this research shows that agents have a tough job on their hands convincing travellers to choose a different type of holiday. We think it is a great shame that people are avoiding new experiences purely because they are worried about what other people may or may not think of them."
The bottom line is, you never know what it's like or whether you'll enjoy it unless you take the plunge and do it. From experience, many people already have preconceived views on what escorted tours are all about but when they actually join one themselves, they are amazed by what is included on top of how easy and comfortable travelling by coach is.
