Blackpool comes out on top in TripAdvisor Poll
According to a recent poll by TripAdvisor, Blackpool has been voted as being the most popular seaside resort in the UK.
The traditional seaside resort located on the Lancashire Coast beat rivals such as Torquay, Llandudno and Brighton in the annual Travellers Choice Awards. The results are based upon the thousands of reviews that have been left by customers on TripAdvisor. Year on year, more than 13 million people visit Blackpool and the town is delighted to have been awarded accolade of Britain's Most Popular Seaside Resort.
Also featuring in the Travellers Choice Awards was the award for Best City but unfortunately, London was pipped to the winning post by Paris and New York for the title of World's Most Popular Destination. This category was dominated by European cities with New York (2nd), San Francisco (7th) and Sydney (10th) being the only non-European destinations in the Top 10.
The leading British destination in the Poll was London followed by Manchester, Glasgow, Liverpool and Belfast. As well as being named as the most popular seaside resort in the UK, Blackpool came 6th in the result for Most Popular Place in the UK followed by Birmingham, Torquay, Llandudno and Bristol. Swansea's Rhossili Bay was voted as the best British Beach by TripAdvisor closely followed by Woolacombe (Devon) and Portminster (St Ives). Rabbit Beach located on the island of Lampedusa (lying between Malta and Tunisia) was given the accolade of World's Most Popular Beach.
