Edible hotel made from cake opens for one night only!
If visitors in London are feeling a little peckish today, head over to Soho where you will find the world’s first entirely edible ‘hotel’ that is open to guests for one night only. The creators, Tate & Lyle, are hoping that this experiment will encourage more people to get creative in the kitchen.
The new hotel will encourage the visitors to eat their way through windows and walls clad with 2000 macaroons. The minds behind this sweet creation spent 2000 hours baking and 900 hours decorating with almost 600 kilos of sugar to create the cake hotel. Guests will get to their rooms and find edible books on their bedside tables, Victoria sponge pillows and even an edible menu.
The decorations created by more than 14 artists made guests watch where they walk with rugs made from 1081 meringues that had been hand-stitched together along with 20 Kg of marshmallows garlands. As they walk into the bathroom they will find 1 bath filled with caramel coated popcorn.
Guests are sure not to go hungry at this sweet hotel with so much on offer. Tate & Lyle sugars are hoping that through the cake hotel they can showcase the versatility of golden and brown cane sugars and to make more people excited about cooking and trying new things in the kitchen.
