Over 50s regret not travelling enough
A recent poll by an online travel agency has revealed that many people over the age of 50 regret not travelling enough when they had the opportunity to. Out of those people surveyed, the majority had said that they had been on holiday less than once a year and they bitterly regret not taking more when they have the chance to!
Just over 2000 people aged Over 50 took part in the survey which hoped to measure the holiday experiences of people within the UK. They were each asked a variety of questions regarding the holidays they had been on and what regrets, if any, they had in life. Here are a few of their Top 10 Regrets:
1) Not travelling enough – 91%
2) Career choice – 72%
3) Bad relationship choices – 64%
4) Not staying healthy (diet/exercise) – 55%
5) Losing touch with certain friends – 53%
6) Being careless with money – 46%
7) Having children too early – 27%
8) Worrying too much – 25%
9) Not being a ‘yes’ person – 19%
10) Having children too late – 8%
Approximately 64% of those people surveyed said that they had been on holiday less than once a year and the countries that they would most like to visit but haven’t yet got around to it are Australia, the USA and South Africa. At least 63% have said that they plan to see more of the world once they had retired as long as nothing major crops up along the way!
Many people don’t realise that they do not have to spend a fortune in order to see the world, it is actually more affordable than they think. There is also no need to plan a trip that lasts six months or longer, it is relatively easy to see the world in short durations such as a week or two here and there – all you need to do is carefully plan where you wish to go and what you’d like to see. Anything is possible, after all the world is your oyster!
