Package holidays proving popular again!
For a generation of holidaymakers, the package holiday fell out of favour but with so many of us tightening our belts and looking for ways to save money, it would appear that more of us are booking package holidays than before!
Although the package holiday appears to have grown in popularity recently this is mainly on an all-inclusive basis and for families who are desperate for a break away that will not cost the earth. Figures from the Office for National Statistics show that following years of decline, the proportion of travellers taking package holidays rose from 37% in 2008 to over 40% in 2012.
Industry experts are keen to show that the modern day package holiday is completely different to the cheap and colourful breaks to resorts such as Benidorm enjoyed by millions in the Sixties and Seventies. Although the prices for such all-inclusive package holidays can start from £2000 per person for long haul destinations during peak travelling weeks. The downside to the all-inclusive package holiday is because of everything available in the resort, holidaymakers very rarely travel outside of their hotel complex to experience the local culture etc.
