Mary Poppins the Musical originally opened in the West End back in 2004 and was performed at the Prince Edward Theatre. In October 2019, Mary Poppins the Musical will open again at the very same theatre!
This musical tells the tale of the magical Nanny that is conjured up from a wish list to take care of Jane and Michael Banks. The stage production is based on the brilliant stories by PL Travers and of course the original film, which starred Julie Andrews!
The stage production of Mary Poppins has been co-created by the Downton Abbey creator, Julian Fellowes and of course the wonderful Cameron Mackintosh. Starring as Mary will be Zizi Strallen, who played the title role in the international tour, and Bert will be Charlie Stemp, who has performed in Mackintosh’s Half a Sixpence.
The musical will feature songs from the original film including Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, Step in Time and Jolly Holidays, plus brand new songs including Practically Perfect, which was written by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, an Olivier award-winning combination!
