Steeped in heritage and history thanks to the Vikings that descended upon it, Wexford now is a thriving hub with a scattering of delightful shops and pubs as well as a nearby beach. Most of Wexford's sights are of an ecclesiastical nature, although a stroll around the narrow streets gives off an ambience that reminds visitors of its interesting Viking past.
Among its finer points, Wexford is home to a good pick of restaurants to while away the hours in, some of which have appeared in top 100 lists over the years, as well as over 50 pubs. The city is also famed for its strawberries, a must-taste for all summer holidays in Ireland.
