To the eyes, Vienna’s Baroque architecture is what Vienna’s classical music
scene is to the ears – sheer opulence and luxury. Indeed, Mozart, Strauss and
the imperial Habsburg Empire may have long disappeared but Vienna’s culture and
elegance lingers on in every concert hall, palace and opera house. As an
uncrowded and pedestrian-friendly city, a coach tour of Vienna is a bit like
dancing the Viennese waltz without the stupendously high shoes: Relaxing,
graceful and with plenty of room to manoeuvre.
Coach Tours to Vienna
Coach holidays to Vienna will mean seeing a few of the major sights. Head to
Ringstrasse, which, as its name suggests, encircles Vienna's
World Heritage listed Historic Old Town. Within its magnificent four-kilometre
stretch you'll find the monumental Hofburg Palace,
Vienna Opera House and the Museum of Fine
Arts. The latter is well worth a visit on all coach trips to Vienna as
it houses one of the most treasure-crammed, significant art collections in the
world with works by Rubens, Raphael, Rembrandt and Vermeer to name a few. Stop
by Hofburg Palace on your coach tour to see where Marie Antionette was born, now
home to the National Library, Imperial
Treasury, Museum of Ethnography and the famous
Spanish Riding School. No coach holidays to Vienna would be the
same without watching the graceful white Lipizzaners perform in their classic
dressage. Tickets though are difficult to get hold of so make sure you book well
in advance. Other noteworthy sights not to be missed on your coach tour are the
National Theatre (Burgtheater) and St. Stephen's
Cathedral.
- Of course, you haven’t seen the city properly on your Vienna holiday by
coach until you’ve invested in a coffee and acquainted yourself with the polite
Viennese locals in a superb coffeehouse.
