Liverpool, Cilla, The Beatles & Ferry ‘Cross The Mersey
Holiday Collection - 2017
Liverpool is a thriving city with a glorious seafaring history, rejuvenated waterfront and a bustling city centre. It also has an unrivalled musical heritage, being the former home of the Beatles and their close friend, Cilla Black. We enjoy this fabulous city from different perspectives as we also take to the water for a ferry ‘cross the Mersey.
PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Single room supplements and upgrades are not included.
Guided city tour of Liverpool & Ferry 'cross the Mersey (full day)
We enjoy a three-hour guided city tour of Liverpool, learning all there is to know about its history as an industrial force and, of course, its most famous sons. From the Liver Building to the renovated Albert Dock we’ll discover some of the city’s impressive landmarks. We’ll also explore some of the locations frequented by John, Paul, Ringo and George such as the Cavern Club. Cilla Black also performed here while she was a cloakroom attendant and in 2017, a bronze statue of the late singer was unveiled outside the club in her honour.
Next, we board the ferry 'cross the Mersey, a 60-minute round trip which gives us the chance to take in the sights and panoramas along the River Mersey, from Liverpool's skyline to the beautiful shorelines of the Wirral on the opposite bank.
Southport (half day)
We spend half a day in the traditional Victorian seaside town of Southport. Known as England's Classic Resort, it is home to the country's second longest and oldest pier, and has miles of golden sand and beautiful parks and gardens perfect for a relaxing stroll.
Chester - £8.99pp (full day)
For our optional excursion, we head to Chester. From the remains of its Roman Amphitheatre to the distinctive Medieval Rows that line its streets, this compact city is a delight to explore. In addition to an abundance of historical attractions, the city also has an array of great shops, plus a host of cafés, restaurants and pubs to tempt you.
The historic Adelphi Hotel is one of Liverpool’s best-loved landmarks, situated in the heart of the city. The hotel has many original period features, including chandeliers and marble halls. Facilities include two bars, a restaurant and leisure centre (small charge applies) with indoor pool, sauna, spa and gym. Dinner is buffet style.
