Everyone should spend coach holidays in The Yorkshire Moors as it is home to the largest area of unbroken wild heather moorland in England and a heritage coast upon which dinosaurs once roamed! Everywhere you look on escorted tours you will see a mass of purple heather that stretches as far as the eye can see to rugged cliffs and coastlines. It truly is the most relaxing place to visit to simply get away from it all.
The North York Moors is the smallest of Yorkshire’s three National Parks and if you sit quietly you may even catch sight of some of the animals that inhabit the local area. It is a colourful patchwork of farmland, ancient woodland and vales rich with wildflower.
The Moors are not all about the heather, there are also some charming market towns and vibrant coastal towns to visit on coach breaks. There is also an area of the Moors that is classed as ‘Captain Cook Country’ as he was born in the village of Marton (which is now part of Middlesbrough) that is now home to the Captain Cook Birthplace Museum. If you’re still craving all things ‘Cook’, then jump on coach tours to Whitby where the Captain learned his Seaman’s trade and was based for nine years – check out the Memorial Museum to fully experience Captain Cook’s life!
