Hidden in the beautiful Glemmtal Valley, Saalbach and its neighbour Hinterglemm, combine to become one of the liveliest ski resorts to be found on Austrian coach breaks. The mountains surrounding this quaint resort provide skiing to suit all abilities from beginner to expert. The pretty Tyrolean style villages are fairly new but the resort as a whole remains traditional with chalets and the sound of sleigh bells adding to its wonderful charm.
If you don’t fancy skiing or snowboarding then why not try snow mobiling, snowshoeing, ice-skating, tobogganing, ice-climbing or snow-hiking to name but a few. There are a number of other fun activities to keep everyone entertained on Saalbach coach tours such as archery, fishing, horse riding, paragliding or tee-up on a 9-hole golf course. Walking trails open up during the long summer months so you can see what else this enchanting Glemmtal Valley has to offer – not forgetting folk evenings, brass band concerts & street painting!
So what happens when the skiing stops? Well you could visit one of many rustic Alpine Inns each providing taste tingling delicacies from Austrian pastries to over 300 different pork or sausage dishes! If you’ve enough energy after skiing & fancy a drink then you won’t have to travel far to find copious amounts of beer & schnapps in full flow in the mountainside inns and village ice bars. Dancing on the tables is expected and drinking anthems with cries of 'prost!' echo everywhere – a true winter wonderland!
