Known principally of course for its main export, Champagne, the town of Reims is an historic and attractive town with some great monuments and attractions. The Angel of Reims smiles down on visitors from the portal of one of France’s most spectacular cathedrals whilst the Porte de Mars is the largest triumphal arch in the Roman world. There are some superb cafes and restaurants too. Explore the hundreds of miles of cellars and galleries built under Reims and neighbouring Epernay. The standard of tours in the area’s most prestigious Champagne houses is excellent, with extensive information and comprehensive tastings in such legendary surroundings as Pommery or Mumm in Reims and Mercier in Epernay.
