The beautiful town of Pitlochry is one of Scotland's leading mountain resorts. Popular since Queen Victoria set foot in the town in the 1860s, Pitlochry is a real tourist trap, drawing in visitors on a regular basis but especially in summer during the Pitlochry Festival.
For the rest of the year however, Pitlochry offers plenty of fine points. Aside from spectacular scenery, visitors on a coach holiday here can enjoy the town's 18-hole golf course, not to mention a number of walking routes that wind through wooded areas, upland and lowland. The town is bursting with shops selling Scottish trinkets and other wares and a handful of attractions are within easy reach. Two whisky distilleries, the Blair Atholl (one of the country's veterans) and the Edradour (Scotland's smallest) are a stone's throw from Pitlochry and the nearby Blair Castle is another firm favourite with visitors on a coach tour!
- Set aside some time during your coach holiday for the trek up to Ben Vrackie Mountain. It's a fairly easy ascent and at 2759ft high, it offers one of the best viewpoints in the southern highlands on a clear day.
