Perth has small city charm, oodles of history as Scotland's very first capital and it inspired Sir Walter Scott's 'The Fair Maid of Perth.' Whilst most are interested in nearby Scone Palace that was the coronation place of 42 of Scotland's monarchs, there is at least one other major thing for Perth to boast about, as the birthplace of Famous Grouse whisky. Although its award-winning Glenturret Distillery is just outside the city in Crieff, this isn’t the end of things to do in Perth on a coach tour.

The city is also home to two sizable parks called the North and South Inch, the former of which was the site of the Battle of the Clans in 1396. Perth is also where the Black Watch regiment are stationed and beside the North Inch there is a Black Watch Museum dedicated to the company. Housed in Balhousie Castle, the museum showcases old swords and muskets as well as six Victoria Crosses awarded to regiment members.
- There's no denying that the main attraction for most on a coach trip to Perth is Scone (pronounced Scoon) Palace. As well as featuring in Shakespeare's Macbeth, the Palace has several impressive rooms and elegant furnishings, and the intriguing Stone of Destiny resided here for nearly 500 years. It now lies in Edinburgh Castle and still performs its ancient duty in the coronation of monarchs.
