Norway's capital Oslo has all the great traits of a world-class city, but without the setbacks that often go with them. Where other cities are cultural yet crammed with people, Oslo is surprisingly spacious; where some cities are over populated by cars, the only congestion you're likely to find in Oslo are the bikes in the designated bike parks. A coach trip to Oslo will show you clean streets, typical Scandinavian architecture and an enviously decent ambience.
Norway has a reputation for being expensive but Oslo has got its priorities right. There's no denying that dining out might lighten your purse quicker than usual, but in contrast Oslo's transport is decidedly reasonable, even stretching to free tube travel on Sundays. Tour Oslo aboard the city's efficient tram network, or wander round the fantastic showpiece that is Oslo City Hall, where the Nobel Prize is presented. Stop to watch street performers in Karl Johans Gate, or embark on a wander to find Oslo's parks, museums and churches.
- During your trip, head to the Munch Museum on the east side of Oslo to stand within breathing distance of Edvard Munch's famous 'The Scream.'
