According to a report issued by First Rate Exchange Services, those destinations that are offering the best value for money are: Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. If you’re not looking to spend too much money whilst on holiday then you’re advised to head to The Far East where a shopping basket of common Tourist items was priced at £38.13 however the same basket bought in Australia would cost £104.95 thus showing that the Far East is a much cheaper holiday destination for that last minute winter sun.
The study has also shown that Indonesian holiday destination, Bali, has enjoyed its best year ever with demand up 54% during the summer months for its currency – the rupiah. According to First Rate Exchange Services, this is the fastest growing currency in The Post Office closely followed by the Kenyan shilling and South African rand.
Mexico has suffered greatly with the recent swine flu epidemic but holidaymakers who plan to return there next year can expect 12% more pesos for their pounds compared to the same period last year and in 2009. Those Brits planning a winter break to The Caribbean will find that Jamaica is the cheapest out of all the destinations surveyed – 21% cheaper than Antigua. Holidaymakers will also find this year and in 2010 that they will get more return for their pound against the Jamaican dollar and Mexican peso. Although the pound has suffered from an unstable position against the American dollar, this has not deterred people from visiting the USA for some winter sunshine.
