Almost a quarter of those people interviewed said that hassles such as delayed flights, losing their belongings and getting to their departure gates on a par with setting up a new home. It is thought that airport terminals cause so much stress to some people that approximately one in ten adults decide not to fly and look to other modes of transport to get away such as coach holidays.
There are ways to reduce the levels of stress and instead of turning away from airports, people should have a strategy for keeping calm such as checking in online, minimising the amount of luggage they check in and taking full advantage of airport lounges.
Although it is thought that many people will need more convincing with almost a third of the 2,005 polled thought airport terminals were more stressful than the working week. Around half found it difficult to relax until they were on the plane, the remainder believed that their holiday did not properly start until they were up in the air!
