The Mediterranean ports were popular with a total of 15% choosing them as their favourite. The Caribbean came next for 4% of the people interviewed citing Road Island on Tortola in the British Virgin Islands as their favourite above places such as Bridgetown (Barbados) and St John’s (Antigua). With regards to long haul cruise holidays, Miami was the top port in the USA with Vancouver coming out top of the poll in Canada. The top river port was Luxor in Egypt followed by the port of London. The favourite rivers for cruise holidays were the Yangtze in China and the Douro in Portugal.
There were many factors considered by British cruise holidaymakers when voting and approx. 53% thought that the stunning scenery surrounding the port & local excursions after docking were important. 39% of people interviewed thought that local culture was important with the port’s regional food and drink attracting 25% of the vote.
