According to the travel company, the number of couple holidays booked fell by 7 % over a 12 month period compared with the previous year. To discover the reasons for the change, the company polled 1,726 people in relationships who they would be going on holiday with in 2011. The answers were different, but most came back saying that they would be travelling with family and friends, partner included. Only 16 % answered that would travel with a partner alone.
Reasons for the decline in couples holidays were that travellers are opting to go on lads or girls holidays only, with 24% claiming that they find better offers when travelling with family and/or friends. The most shocking answer came from 7 % of those polled, who said that they travelled with their family instead of their other half because of potential friction.
