Strangely enough, especially with a Royal Wedding around the corner,
London doesn’t even appear in the top ten of most searched for cities, while searches for Tenerife, Malaga and Alicante show considerable rises compared to Easter 2010 - in fact, they are the top three cities searched for by Brits!
Tenerife is now the second most searched for destination moving up 21 places in the Top Ten from last Easter. Malaga and Alicante also remain highly popular with the British.
Research shows that many will be taking advantage of the additional Royal Wedding Holiday and choosing to travel a little bit further afield, because searches for Istanbul, Tenerife and New York went up considerably in comparison to last year.
City break destinations have all dropped significantly this Easter. The fact that London doesn’t even appear in this year’s top ten certainly seems to suggest that many Brits are trying to escape the hype surrounding the Royal Wedding.
Amsterdam and Barcelona dropped four places compared to last year, although they are still in the top ten.
Paris,
Dublin and
London dropped out of the top ten altogether.
The most popular destinations for British holidaymakers for Easter 2011 are:
1. Malaga
2. Tenerife
3. Alicante
4. New York
5. Istanbul
6. Faro
7. Amsterdam
8. Barcelona
9. Rome
10. Palma
