Almost half of parents taking their children on holiday during term time do it to save money as holidays are so much cheaper compared to the peak periods. As soon as the schools break up, whether it’s for Easter, Summer or the Half Term, the prices go up astronomically and some families simply cannot afford it.
Out of those people who chose to take their children on a term time break, 47% claimed that the school turned a blind eye compared to 46% who were not happy about what the parents were doing but still took no action against them. TripAdvisor (who carried out the research) said that for many families, breaking the rules and taking their child out of school was the only way that they could afford a family holiday during these tough economic times.
