Travel experts have found that a week in Turkey is cheaper than one in Torquay! It turns out that Brits could save on average £600 if they fly the 1,600 miles to the sun-kissed resort of Antayla instead of travelling to Devon.
According to research by Travelex, one of the biggest pulls of coach holidays to Turkey is that Brits can get 10% more for their pound as sterling has rallied against the Turkish lira compared to last year. A double room at the Lara Park Hotel (located by the beach) in Turkey would set a couple back £426 for two weeks however, if they were to stay at the four-star Braddon Hall Hotel in Torquay, it would cost them £518!
It’s not just accommodation that’s cheaper on Turkey coach holidays, a three course meal with wine will cost £30.50 a head while a pint of beer costs £1.86 compared to £3.20 in Torquay. Spa days are cheaper saving 50%, cocktails in the resort are a bargain and a trip to a model village costs at least three times less than it would in the UK.
Who would’ve thought that taking coach holidays to Turkey would work out so much cheaper than holidaying on home soil - maybe this has sparked the end of the staycation?
