It’s that age old dilemma, you want to go on holiday but financial hurdles are putting a strain on your holiday plans. How about this, if you fly on a week day, you could save up to £800?
It is common knowledge that some travel firms tend to bump up the total price of a holiday by almost 70% as soon as the schools break up in July according to research carried out by Which?
Those families who are restricted to taking holidays in the summer months can still make savings if they opt for travelling on a week day, for example, a family of four flying to Majorca in August for one week will be charged £2,334 if travelling with Thomson on a Saturday morning. The same holiday departing on a Thursday evening comes in at £1,480 – this makes a saving of £854.
The research has shown that holidaymakers can save an average of £339 just by switching their travel dates from a weekend to a week day. There are also price differences of more than £100 between different midweek departures and people can save even more if they fly out in the evenings between 6pm and midnight.
